The basic sound material for the tape is a variety of stone ‘sounds’, for example, stones struck together, stones poured into and out of a can, pebbles moved around on the hand, fragments of slate trickling onto a tuned piece of metal.
These sounds are transposed and inverted by electronic devices so that the resultant sounds no longer suggest stones, but rather water, fire, storm, engine noise...
The musical structure of the tape part is based on the Fibonacci sequence. In a composition for six voices this sequence is developed in several forms and variations.
